Live Stock Market Updates - Nifty hovers around 10,200 mark; Federal Bank, Idea gain



Benchmark indices pared some gains because some investors booked profits after the indices hit lifetime highs earlier in the session.

At 1:37 PM, the S&P BSE Sensex is trading at 32,503, up by 71 points, while NSE Nifty is trading at 10,194 up by 26 points.

The BSE Mid-cap Index is trading up by 0.08% at 15,979.09 whereas BSE Small-cap Index is trading up by 0.15% at 16,951.33.

Bharti Airtel, Infratel, Vedanta Limited, BPCL, and Hindalco are among the gainers, whereas Indusland Bank, Reliance, Axis Bank, Wipro and SBI Bank are losing steam on NSE.

Hindalco stock gains 2% after 28 lakh shares worth Rs 77 Cr in two block deals at Rs 272.3 on NSE.

Godrej Agrovet share lists at 35% premium on BSE;  List at Rs 621/sh.

Nifty Metal Index rises 1.5%. Jindal Steel (+3%), JSW Steel, Vedanta, NMDC, Hindalco (+2%).

Some buying activity is seen in Basic Materials, FMCG, Metals, Healthcare, Telecom and Auto sectors, while energy and finance show weakness in BSE.

The INDIA VIX is down by 0.19% at 11.24.

Out of 1,977 stocks traded on the NSE, 760 advanced, 856 declined, and 361 remained unchanged today.

A total of 54 stocks registered a fresh 52-week high in trade today, while 23 stocks touched a new 52-week low on the NSE.

        0 Markets off day's high in late trades as indices fail to hold on to intraday gains. The 10,000 psychological mark is proving to act as a strong resistance zone for the Nifty. Bank Nifty too has lost ground; crucial support is now seen around 23,600 zone for Bank Nifty. Trump’s protectionist policies leading to the trade war scenario between US and China has negatively impacted major Asian indices. BSE Sensex toppled over 1% losing 400 points in the afternoon trade and is holding at 32,607. Nifty50 was down 121 points at 9,992. Barring IT sector being marginally up, all sectoral indices are in the red on BSE Sensex. At 9:15 AM, the BSE Sensex opened higher by 77 points at 31,738, while the Nifty50 opened higher by 29 points at 9,945 mark. Indiabulls Housing Finance was top Nifty gainer trading at Rs 1,288.2 per share, up by 1.89% while Bharti Infratel was top Nifty loser trading at Rs 370.3 per share, down by 0.3%. There were 1,034 advances, 374 declines and 424 unchanged stocks on NSE reflecting strong positive sentiments floating in the market. ITC, HDFC Bank and ICICI Bank are among the top contributors to the gains of Nifty and Sensex in the morning hours. Nifty50 has immediate resistance placed at the level of 9,940, followed by 9,980-10,000, and if it sustains above these levels, it may move higher up to the level of 10,080.
