Nifty above 10,850 mark; HDFC Bank M-Cap cross Rs5 lk cr


Equity benchmark indices continued to trade around record highs, with the Sensex rising more than 350 points. Banking stocks gained today after media report stated that the government is considering allowing 100% FDI in the banking sector.

At 11:34 AM, the BSE Sensex was trading at 35,422, up 340 points, while the broader Nifty50 index was ruling at 10,859, up 70 points.

Sanghvi Forging & Engineering stock zoomed 5% after the company announced that it has bagged orders worth Rs11cr from Oil & Gas Sector.

Shares of Panacea Biotec soared 7% after signing two long-term agreement with Serum Institute.

HDFC Bank has crossed its market capitalization of Rs5 lakh cr, retaining the third position after Reliance Industries and TCS.

The BSE Mid-cap is trading down 0.35% while BSE Small-cap indices is up 0.35%, respectively.

Volatility index India VIX inched up 0.34% at 13.9075.

HDFC Bank (+2.8%), HDFC (+2.5%), ITC (+2%), IndusInd Bank (+2.4%) and Yes Bank (+2.3%) were the top gainers on Nifty50.

Infratel (-4.6%), Vedanta (- 3.2%), Hindalco (-2.9%), Tata Steel (-2.3%) and HPCL (-1.7%) were the top losers in today’s trade.

Out of 2,011 stocks traded on the NSE, 888 advanced, 777 declined and 346 remained unchanged today.

A total of 76 stocks registered a fresh 52-week high in trade today, while three stocks touched a new 52-week low on the NSE.

        0 Markets off day's high in late trades as indices fail to hold on to intraday gains. The 10,000 psychological mark is proving to act as a strong resistance zone for the Nifty. Bank Nifty too has lost ground; crucial support is now seen around 23,600 zone for Bank Nifty. Trump’s protectionist policies leading to the trade war scenario between US and China has negatively impacted major Asian indices. At 9:15 AM, the BSE Sensex opened higher by 77 points at 31,738, while the Nifty50 opened higher by 29 points at 9,945 mark. Indiabulls Housing Finance was top Nifty gainer trading at Rs 1,288.2 per share, up by 1.89% while Bharti Infratel was top Nifty loser trading at Rs 370.3 per share, down by 0.3%. There were 1,034 advances, 374 declines and 424 unchanged stocks on NSE reflecting strong positive sentiments floating in the market. ITC, HDFC Bank and ICICI Bank are among the top contributors to the gains of Nifty and Sensex in the morning hours.
