Opening Bell – Markets open flat

At 09:15 AM, Nifty opened at 9,888 level, up 4 points while Sensex opened at 31,649 level, up by 3 points. Wipro was top Nifty gainer trading at Rs 295.05 per share, up by 1.32% while NTPC was top Nifty loser trading at Rs 164.35 per share, down by 2.14%. There were 882 advances, 457 declines and 484 unchanged stocks on NSE reflecting positive undertone floating in the market. On the broader markets, BSE Mid-cap index was trading at 15,501 level, down 0.03% while BSE Small-cap index was trading at 15,904 level, up by 0.23%. Nifty finds strong support around 9,800 while 9,940 will act as resistance on the upside. The rupee opened at 64.03 per USD.   The US stock market indices ended higher on Wednesday, following the release of some upbeat US economic data, including a report showing a jump in private sector employment. Live Stock Market Updates - Sensex falls by over 250 points, Lupin declines by 17%

Nifty and Sensex fall sharp owing to decline in Pharma Sector. Nifty Pharma loses by 4%, dragged down by Lupin which declined by 17%. 　　 At 2:00 PM, the S&P BSE Sensex is trading at 33,468, down by 262 points, while NSE Nifty is trading at 10,376down by 75 points. The BSE Mid-cap Index is trading down by 1.33% at 16,565.68 whereas BSE Small-cap Index is trading down by 1.21% at 17,694.32. HCL, TCS, Infosys, Zee Entertainment, and Tech Mahindra are among the gainers, whereas YES Bank, UPL, Indiabulls Housing Finance, Indian Oil, and Reliance are losing steam on NSE. Some buying seen in IT, FMCG, and Teck sectors, whereas Energy, Telecom, Consumer Durables, and Oil & Gas sectors show weakness on the BSE. The India Vix is up by 4.53% at 13.61. Out of 1,974 stocks traded on the NSE, 437 advanced, 1215 declined, and 322 remained unchanged today. Nifty slips below 10,150; Infosys, Tata Motors up 2%

Indian equity benchmarks moved higher led by gains in Infosys. However, the market gave up early gains as Reliance Industries, L&T and Sun Pharma came under selling pressure. At 9:40 AM, BSE Sensex was up 18 points to 32,581 and the NSE Nifty50 Index slipped by 13 points to 10,108. The BSE Mid-cap Index and BSE Small-cap Index are trading lower at 16,688 and 17,918 respectively. Some buying was seen in IT and Tele Communications, while power, capital goods, utilities, FMCG, banking and consumer durables showed weakness on the BSE. Infosys, Tata Motors, Indiabulls HF, ONGC and Bharti Airtel gained the most on Nifty50. Adani Ports, HPCL, Wipro, Bajaj Finance and Sun Pharma were the top losers. India VIX rises by 2.60% at 15.18 level. Out of 1,989 stocks traded on the NSE, 623 advanced, 915 declined, and 451 remained unchanged today.
