Live Stock Market Updates: Nifty, Sensex off day's low; Broader market indices extend gains

Nifty50 index has been hovering around the important mark of 10,050. Tata Steel is the top gainer in the index trading at Rs 684 per share, up by 3.23%. The company’s UK unit has completed the separation of the British Steel Pension Scheme after approval from the pensions regulator.

Broader market indices have extended their gains to trade at all-time high level. BSE Mid-cap index has touched its fresh life-time high of 15,978 level while the BSE Small-cap index has touched its fresh life-time high of 16,581 level.

There are 1,017 advances, 571 declines and 371 unchanged stocks on NSE reflecting positive sentiments floating in the market.

At 11 AM, the S&P BSE Sensex is trading at 32,050 up 168 points, while NSE Nifty is trading at 10,052 up 46 points. A total of 79 stocks registered a fresh 52-week high in trade today, while 8 stocks touched a new 52-week low on the NSE.

The BSE Mid-cap Index is trading up 0.67% at 15,972, while BSE Small-cap Index is trading up 0.79% at 16,581.

Some buying activity is seen in Capital Goods, Metal, Pharma, Auto, while Telecom is showing weakness on BSE.

Tata Steel, Zee Entertainment, ACC, BPCL and IOC are among the gainers, whereas IndusInd Bank, Cipla, Coal India, Tech Mahindra and Yes Bank are losing sheen on NSE.

The INDIA VIX is down 3.62% at 11.91.

Opening Bell - Markets open higher; Eicher Motors top Nifty gainer

At 9:15 AM, the BSE Sensex opened higher by 32 points at 31,694, while the Nifty50 opened higher by 28 points at 9,958 mark.   Eicher Motors is top Nifty gainer trading at Rs 33,271.65 per share, up by 1.25% and Tata Power is top Nifty loser trading at Rs 77.05 per share, down by 0.39%. There are 957 advances, 424 declines and 459 unchanged stocks on NSE reflecting mixed sentiments floating in the market.   On the broader markets, BSE Mid-cap index is trading at 15,846 level, up by 0.15% while BSE Small-cap index is trading at 16,384 level, up by 0.28%.   The rupee opened at 63.88 per USD.         0 Markets off day's high in late trades as indices fail to hold on to intraday gains. The 10,000 psychological mark is proving to act as a strong resistance zone for the Nifty. Bank Nifty too has lost ground; crucial support is now seen around 23,600 zone for Bank Nifty. Trump’s protectionist policies leading to the trade war scenario between US and China has negatively impacted major Asian indices. BSE Sensex toppled over 1% losing 400 points in the afternoon trade and is holding at 32,607. Nifty50 was down 121 points at 9,992.
