Top gainers on Thursday



Nifty ended at 10,121 level, down by 19 points, while Sensex closed at 32,370 level, down by 30 points. There were 576 advances, 1,083 declines and 301 unchanged stocks on NSE, reflecting strong negative sentiments floating in the market.
 
In the broader markets, BSE Mid-cap index closed at 16,044 level, down by 0.34% while BSE Small-cap index closed at 16,784 level, down by 0.51%.

IPCA Laboratories surged over 16% in Thursday’s trade. The stock hit an intraday high of Rs 584.90 per share and an intraday low of Rs 495 per share on the BSE.     

Dr Reddy’s Laboratories witnessed a sharp upward momentum during Thursday’s trade on the BSE. The stock extended its intraday gains to trade up by over 7%. It also witnessed a spurt in volume by more than 4.15 times.

Live Stock Market Updates - Nifty, Sensex close to their morning highs; United Spirits gains by 16%

Nifty and Sensex trading close to their morning highs as Pharma, FMCG and Auto Index pose strong gains. Pharma stocks up by 2.5%, lead by strong gains of Sun Pharma, Cipla, and Aurobindo Pharma, while Tata Motors lead the Auto Index. At 12:49 PM, the S&P BSE Sensex is trading at 33,276, up by 128 points, while NSE Nifty is trading at 10,355, up by 12 points. The BSE Mid-cap Index is trading up by 0.6% at 16,432 whereas BSE Small-cap Index is trading up by 0.58% at 17,356. Adani Ports, Sun Pharma, ITC, Bajaj Finance and Tata Motors are among the gainers, whereas YES Bank, Infratel, Bharti Airtel, Indian Oil and HPCL are losing steam on NSE. How Insurance Can Improve the Ease of Doing Business

World Bank’s Ease of Doing Business report that came out in the first week of November 2017 had quite a focus on insurance in it. It pointed out that if India has to improve its ranking in the annual report, the role of insurance has to be reconsidered in a positive sense in 6 out of the 10 criteria highlighted.   The overall ranking of India has improved to the 100 th  position among the 190 countries this time however, economists believe it is still low and there’s a lot of scope for improvement. Some of the sectors where insurance can either improve the country’s ranking or assist in coping with the issue pointed out are: 1.
