Live Stock Market Updates - Nifty hovers around 10,200 mark; Adani Ports, Zee up 2%



Benchmark indices open higher following positive cues from the global markets, with the Nifty reclaiming 10,150 level on short covering after over a percent loss seen in previous week.

At 9:47 AM, the S&P BSE Sensex was trading at 32,490, up 100 points while the broader Nifty50 index was ruling at 10,192, up 44 points.

The BSE Mid-cap Index is trading up by 0.56% at 16,166 whereas BSE Small-cap Index is trading up by 0.31% at 17,134.

Shares of energy companies were the lead gainers today, with the Nifty Energy index rising 1.5%, led by 2% gains in shares of Reliance Industries.

The Indian rupee has opened at 65.07 a dollar, falling 5 paise compared with previous close of 65.02 a dollar.

Adani Ports, Zee, Airtel, HPCL and BPCL are among the gainers, whereas Axis Bank, Infratel, Bajaj Auto, HDFC and Bosch are losing steam on NSE.

All sectorial indices are trading in green on the BSE. Hero Motocorp, Bharti Airtel, Dr Reddy's Labs, Infosys, HUL, Cipla, TCS and Reliance Industries gained 1-2%.

The INDIA VIX is down by 2.21 % at 12.12.

Out of 1,962 stocks traded on the NSE, 1,004 advanced, 550 declined, and 408 remained unchanged today.

A total of 53 stocks registered a fresh 52-week high in trade today, while 10 stocks touched a new 52-week low on the NSE.

Opening Bell - Markets open higher; Eicher Motors top Nifty gainer

At 9:15 AM, the BSE Sensex opened higher by 32 points at 31,694, while the Nifty50 opened higher by 28 points at 9,958 mark.   Eicher Motors is top Nifty gainer trading at Rs 33,271.65 per share, up by 1.25% and Tata Power is top Nifty loser trading at Rs 77.05 per share, down by 0.39%. There are 957 advances, 424 declines and 459 unchanged stocks on NSE reflecting mixed sentiments floating in the market.   On the broader markets, BSE Mid-cap index is trading at 15,846 level, up by 0.15% while BSE Small-cap index is trading at 16,384 level, up by 0.28%.   The rupee opened at 63.88 per USD.         0 Markets off day's high in late trades as indices fail to hold on to intraday gains. The 10,000 psychological mark is proving to act as a strong resistance zone for the Nifty. Bank Nifty too has lost ground; crucial support is now seen around 23,600 zone for Bank Nifty. Trump’s protectionist policies leading to the trade war scenario between US and China has negatively impacted major Asian indices. BSE Sensex toppled over 1% losing 400 points in the afternoon trade and is holding at 32,607. Nifty50 was down 121 points at 9,992.
