Live Stock Market Updates - Nifty hovers around 10,200 mark; Zee Entertainment gains beyond 8%



Nifty and Sensex gain momentum with Zee Entertainment leading the market with over 8% gains. Telecom, Utilities, and Power sectors continue to keep the market afloat in green.

At 2:58 PM, the S&P BSE Sensex is trading at 32,584, up by 77 points, while NSE Nifty is trading at 10,205 up by 20 points.

The BSE Mid-cap Index is trading up by 0.16% at 16,173 whereas BSE Small-cap Index is trading up by 0.56% at 17,192.

Zee Entertainment, SBI bank, NTPC, ONGC, and UPL are among the gainers, whereas Tata Motors, Indusland Bank, Tech Mahindra, HCL and Infosys are losing steam on NSE.

Some buying seen in Basic Materials, Telecom, Utilities, Power and Reality while Energy, Healthcare, IT, Consumer Durables and Auto show weakness on the BSE.

The INDIA VIX is down by 6.38% at 11.53.

Out of 1,974 stocks traded on the NSE, 951 advanced, 714 declined, and 309 remained unchanged today.

A total of 88 stocks registered a fresh 52-week high in trade today, while 16 stocks touched a new 52-week low on the NSE.

Fertiliser stocks rise on direct subsidy pay roll out dates. Nagarjuna Fertilizer (+9%), Madras Fertilizer (+16%), Mangalore Chemicals (+5.5%).

PSU Banks Index soars 4% on the news FM may announce PSU Bank recapitalisation plan today. Syndicate Bank (+6%), Andhra Bank (+6%), PNB (+5%), IDBI Bank, Union Bank, Canara Bank (+4%), SBI (+3%).

ESOS Trust sells 85 lakh shares in Reliance Power. Stock advances 1%.

Jaiprakash Associates rises 2% after reports suggest sale of assets to pay homebuyers.

Opening Bell - Markets open higher; Eicher Motors top Nifty gainer

At 9:15 AM, the BSE Sensex opened higher by 32 points at 31,694, while the Nifty50 opened higher by 28 points at 9,958 mark.   Eicher Motors is top Nifty gainer trading at Rs 33,271.65 per share, up by 1.25% and Tata Power is top Nifty loser trading at Rs 77.05 per share, down by 0.39%. There are 957 advances, 424 declines and 459 unchanged stocks on NSE reflecting mixed sentiments floating in the market.   On the broader markets, BSE Mid-cap index is trading at 15,846 level, up by 0.15% while BSE Small-cap index is trading at 16,384 level, up by 0.28%.   The rupee opened at 63.88 per USD.         0 Markets off day's high in late trades as indices fail to hold on to intraday gains. The 10,000 psychological mark is proving to act as a strong resistance zone for the Nifty. Bank Nifty too has lost ground; crucial support is now seen around 23,600 zone for Bank Nifty. Trump’s protectionist policies leading to the trade war scenario between US and China has negatively impacted major Asian indices. BSE Sensex toppled over 1% losing 400 points in the afternoon trade and is holding at 32,607. Nifty50 was down 121 points at 9,992.
