Nifty hovers around 10,500 mark; Fortis, Rain Ind stocks up

Benchmark indices continued to trade higher, with the Sensex holding 100-point gain, while the Nifty was hovering around 10,500 led by realty, metal, FMCG, IT and media amid higher Asian cues.

At 1:06 PM, the BSE Sensex was trading at 33,862, up 49 points, while the Nifty50 was ruling at 10,464, up 23 points.

Shares of Titan Co gained 2% after the company's jewellery vertical witnessed strong growth in retail sales for Oct-Dec.

Shares of Apar Industries rose 4% as the company, after market hours on Tuesday, said it has formed 40:60 joint venture with PPS Motors Pvt Ltd for incorporating a lubricant marketing company.

Shares of Dr. Reddy's Laboratories fell nearly 3% on fears that clearance for the company's injectables unit in Duvvada, Andhra Pradesh, from the US Food and Drug Administration may be delayed.

The BSE Mid-cap and BSE Small-cap indices were up 0.76% and 1.12%, respectively.

Volatility index India VIX slipped 0.71%.

Adani Ports (+2.6%), Hindalco (+2.02%), Tech Mahindra (+1.8%), ICICI Bank (+1.7%) and Vedanta (+1.6%) were the top gainers on Nifty50.

Dr. Reddy’s (-2.9%), ONGC (-1.5%), Tata Motors (-1%), Maruti (-0.96 %) and Infosys (-0.61%) were the top losers in today’s trade.

Out of 2,001 stocks traded on the NSE, 1,262 advanced, 408 declined and 331 remained unchanged today.

A total of 98 stocks registered a fresh 52-week high in trade today, while three stocks touched a new 52-week low on the NSE.
